Provide a kernel API for query and control of the GPU TFM. This allows
a TFM kernel module to interact with the i915 driver as follows.
- i915_gpu_get_max_pstate(); Query for the platform maximum frequency
opcode.
- i915_gpu_pstate2freq(); Convert an opcode to freqency in KHz.
- i915_gpu_disable_turbo(); Limit the GPU to non-turbo frequencies.
- i915_gpu_enable_turbo(); Remove the GPU frequency limit imposed by the
i915_disable_turbo() function.
In this context "turbo" frequencies are those above RP1 and up to RP0.
The disable_turbo function places a temporary upper limit to GPU
frequencies but will not raise the limit if the sysfs max frequency is
already lower. Similarly, the enable_turbo function will increase any limit
set via the sysfs max frequency value.
The GPU is currently operating at a turbo freqency when disable_turbo is
called, the GPU frequency will be automatically lowered.
v2: This is rewrite of a patch set that added the TFM control into the
existing IPS framework. While similar to some of the existing IPS
code, separating it makes for less confusing code.
v3: Update the commit message to clarifiy turbo (Matt)
Restrict the use of the TFM governor to Broxton only (Matt)
Fix typo in dev_priv->tfm_enable(d) (Matt)
Make tfm_lock mutex static (Matt)
Fix a couple of typo's in comments (Matt)

…o Lake The TFM Governor module manages the turbo frequency mode usage and budget for CPU and GPU, over the lifetime of the processors to keep the quality and reliability goals of the Apollo Lake silicon. This patch is derived from original work by Tunik, Raman <Raman_Tunik@mentor.com>. Changes from original work, - Modify show_cpu_freq_stats() and show_gpu_freq_stats(). Replace sprintf with snprintf, and add guard to check if current size is equal or larger than PAGE_SIZE. - Modify Kconfig.x86 to ensure this driver shall be built as loadable module only. - Wrap the codes that depends on intel_pstate driver and i915 driver to ensure the build is successful if either one is not selected. - Separate counter update from turbo control. - Track current state of GPU turbo enable/disable so that we don't make unnecessary calls to the i915 driver. - Add new sku values, and with proper default values. - Check num_present_cpu() value before assigning to num_cpus. - Cancel workqueue when init fails. The workqueue is scheduled early in the initialization so make sure it is canceled if something fails later. - Fix up the control logic. Wrapping the register and unregister functions with the g_control boolean is not necessary and will cause the unregister functions to be skipped if the init function fails after the register functions were called. - Don't fail on set schedule permission failures. …old value It is not efficient to transfer small data size using dma. Hence, pio_dma_threshold is introduced in struct pxa2xx_spi_chip. By configuring pio_dma_threshold in spi_board_info, the driver will automatically be in PIO mode/DMA mode depending on the logic below: PIO mode when: transfer length < pio_dma_threshold DMA mode when: transfer length >= pio_dma_threshold [Forward port to Linux kernel 4.9] The spi driver_data->dma_mapped has to take pio_dma_threshold value into consideration when deciding between PIO mode/DMA mode. If the current transfer length as defined in driver_data->len is less than pio_dma_threshold, PIO mode should be enabled, irrespective of its DMA capability. Hence, introduced the check: dma_mapped = ... && (drv_data->len > chip->pio_dma_threshold) && ... in the function pump_transfer(). This modification generates a 'uevent' to userland and adds the 'OVERCURRENT=1' environment when overcurrent event happens and adds the 'OVERCURRENT=0' environment when returning to normal current condition, with PORT number. Any userland program listening to the 'uevent' interface can filter for the presence of this environment variable to distinguish this special 'uevent' from other 'add' or 'remove' events. Current disadvantage: Due to the fact, the hub driver tries to enable the port again immediately (it does not wait for user interaction) this powerfail event gets reported twice: First time when it really happens and second time when the external overcurrent detection device will be reset. The second false positive report must be sorted out by the userland application. The issue is, if core soft reset is issued while Intel Apollo Lake USB mux is in Host role mode, it takes close to 7 minutes before we are able to switch USB mux from Host mode to Device mode. This is due to RTL bug. The workaround is to let BIOS issues the core soft reset via _DSM method. It will ensure that USB mux is in Device role mode before issuing core soft reset, and will inform the driver whether the reset is success within the timeout value, or the timeout is exceeded. Network device ioctl function in net/core/dev_ioctl.c is acquiring rtnl_lock for some ioctl commands like ethtool(SIOCETHTOOL) before calling the driver op function. Invoking runtime resume for handling such ioctl and acquiring rtnl_lock in igb_resume() function is causing deadlock. To avoid deadlock in such cases using rtnl_trylock. While runtime resuming is in progress, device runtime state will be RESUMING and there is no other activity can happen on net_device structure until the runtime state changes to ACTIVE. With the current design while resuming is in progress, if any of the net device operations callback is called, the callback will not proceed until the state is changed to ACTIVE. Using managed device resources in usb_hcd_pci_probe() allows devm usage for resource subranges, such as the mmio resource for the platform device created to control host/device mode mux, which is a xhci extended capability, and sits inside the xhci mmio region. If managed device resources are not used then "parent" resource is released before subrange at driver removal as .remove callback is called before the devres list of resources for this device is walked and released. This has been observed with the xhci extended capability driver causing a use-after-free which is now fixed. An additional nice benefit is that error handling on driver initialisation is simplified much. This patch prevents this by adding a boundary check with L2CAP_MAX_CONF_RSP Btmon log: Bluetooth monitor ver 5.64 = Note: Linux version 6.1.0-rc2 (x86_64) 0.264594 = Note: Bluetooth subsystem version 2.22 0.264636 @ MGMT Open: btmon (privileged) version 1.22 {0x0001} 0.272191 = New Index: 00:00:00:00:00:00 (Primary,Virtual,hci0) [hci0] 13.877604 @ RAW Open: 9496 (privileged) version 2.22 {0x0002} 13.890741 = Open Index: 00:00:00:00:00:00 [hci0] 13.900426 (...) > ACL Data RX: Handle 200 flags 0x00 dlen 1033 #32 [hci0] 14.273106 invalid packet size (12 != 1033) 08 00 01 00 02 01 04 00 01 10 ff ff ............ > ACL Data RX: Handle 200 flags 0x00 dlen 1547 #33 [hci0] 14.273561 invalid packet size (14 != 1547) 0a 00 01 00 04 01 06 00 40 00 00 00 00 00 ........@..... > ACL Data RX: Handle 200 flags 0x00 dlen 2061 #34 [hci0] 14.274390 invalid packet size (16 != 2061) 0c 00 01 00 04 01 08 00 40 00 00 00 00 00 00 04 ........@....... > ACL Data RX: Handle 200 flags 0x00 dlen 2061 #35 [hci0] 14.274932 invalid packet size (16 != 2061) 0c 00 01 00 04 01 08 00 40 00 00 00 07 00 03 00 ........@....... = bluetoothd: Bluetooth daemon 5.43 14.401828 > ACL Data RX: Handle 200 flags 0x00 dlen 1033 #36 [hci0] 14.275753 invalid packet size (12 != 1033) 08 00 01 00 04 01 04 00 40 00 00 00 ........@... commit 70ca3c5 upstream. The BUG message "BUG: using smp_processor_id() in preemptible [00000000] code" was observed for TCMU devices with kernel config DEBUG_PREEMPT. The message was observed when blktests block/005 was run on TCMU devices with fileio backend or user:zbc backend [1]. The commit 1130b49 ("scsi: target: tcm_loop: Use LIO wq cmd submission helper") triggered the symptom. The commit modified work queue to handle commands and changed 'current->nr_cpu_allowed' at smp_processor_id() call. The message was also observed at system shutdown when TCMU devices were not cleaned up [2]. The function smp_processor_id() was called in SCSI host work queue for abort handling, and triggered the BUG message. This symptom was observed regardless of the commit 1130b49 ("scsi: target: tcm_loop: Use LIO wq cmd submission helper"). To avoid the preemptible code check at smp_processor_id(), get CPU ID with raw_smp_processor_id() instead. The CPU ID is used for performance improvement then thread move to other CPU will not affect the code. [ Upstream commit 0756384 ] The nexthop code expects a 31 bit hash, such as what is returned by fib_multipath_hash() and rt6_multipath_hash(). Passing the 32 bit hash returned by skb_get_hash() can lead to problems related to the fact that 'int hash' is a negative number when the MSB is set. In the case of hash threshold nexthop groups, nexthop_select_path_hthr() will disproportionately select the first nexthop group entry. In the case of resilient nexthop groups, nexthop_select_path_res() may do an out of bounds access in nh_buckets[], for example: hash = -912054133 num_nh_buckets = 2 bucket_index = 65535 which leads to the following panic: BUG: unable to handle page fault for address: ffffc900025910c8 PGD 100000067 P4D 100000067 PUD 10026b067 PMD 0 Oops: 0002 [#1] PREEMPT SMP KASAN NOPTI CPU: 4 PID: 856 Comm: kworker/4:3 Not tainted 6.5.0-rc2+ #34 Hardware name: QEMU Standard PC (i440FX + PIIX, 1996), BIOS 1.16.2-debian-1.16.2-1 04/01/2014 Workqueue: ipv6_addrconf addrconf_dad_work RIP: 0010:nexthop_select_path+0x197/0xbf0 Code: c1 e4 05 be 08 00 00 00 4c 8b 35 a4 14 7e 01 4e 8d 6c 25 00 4a 8d 7c 25 08 48 01 dd e8 c2 25 15 ff 49 8d 7d 08 e8 39 13 15 ff <4d> 89 75 08 48 89 ef e8 7d 12 15 ff 48 8b 5d 00 e8 14 55 2f 00 85 RSP: 0018:ffff88810c36f260 EFLAGS: 00010246 RAX: 0000000000000000 RBX: 00000000002000c0 RCX: ffffffffaf02dd77 RDX: dffffc0000000000 RSI: 0000000000000008 RDI: ffffc900025910c8 RBP: ffffc900025910c0 R08: 0000000000000001 R09: fffff520004b2219 R10: ffffc900025910cf R11: 31392d2068736168 R12: 00000000002000c0 R13: ffffc900025910c0 R14: 00000000fffef608 R15: ffff88811840e900 FS: 0000000000000000(0000) GS:ffff8881f7000000(0000) knlGS:0000000000000000 CS: 0010 DS: 0000 ES: 0000 CR0: 0000000080050033 CR2: ffffc900025910c8 CR3: 0000000129d00000 CR4: 0000000000750ee0 PKRU: 55555554 Call Trace: <TASK> ? __die+0x23/0x70 ? page_fault_oops+0x1ee/0x5c0 ? __pfx_is_prefetch.constprop.0+0x10/0x10 ? __pfx_page_fault_oops+0x10/0x10 ? search_bpf_extables+0xfe/0x1c0 ? fixup_exception+0x3b/0x470 ? exc_page_fault+0xf6/0x110 ? asm_exc_page_fault+0x26/0x30 ? nexthop_select_path+0x197/0xbf0 ? nexthop_select_path+0x197/0xbf0 ? lock_is_held_type+0xe7/0x140 vxlan_xmit+0x5b2/0x2340 ? __lock_acquire+0x92b/0x3370 ? __pfx_vxlan_xmit+0x10/0x10 ? __pfx___lock_acquire+0x10/0x10 ? __pfx_register_lock_class+0x10/0x10 ? skb_network_protocol+0xce/0x2d0 ? dev_hard_start_xmit+0xca/0x350 ? __pfx_vxlan_xmit+0x10/0x10 dev_hard_start_xmit+0xca/0x350 __dev_queue_xmit+0x513/0x1e20 ? __pfx___dev_queue_xmit+0x10/0x10 ? __pfx_lock_release+0x10/0x10 ? mark_held_locks+0x44/0x90 ? skb_push+0x4c/0x80 ? eth_header+0x81/0xe0 ? __pfx_eth_header+0x10/0x10 ? neigh_resolve_output+0x215/0x310 ? ip6_finish_output2+0x2ba/0xc90 ip6_finish_output2+0x2ba/0xc90 ? lock_release+0x236/0x3e0 ? ip6_mtu+0xbb/0x240 ? __pfx_ip6_finish_output2+0x10/0x10 ? find_held_lock+0x83/0xa0 ? lock_is_held_type+0xe7/0x140 ip6_finish_output+0x1ee/0x780 ip6_output+0x138/0x460 ? __pfx_ip6_output+0x10/0x10 ? __pfx___lock_acquire+0x10/0x10 ? __pfx_ip6_finish_output+0x10/0x10 NF_HOOK.constprop.0+0xc0/0x420 ? __pfx_NF_HOOK.constprop.0+0x10/0x10 ? ndisc_send_skb+0x2c0/0x960 ? __pfx_lock_release+0x10/0x10 ? __local_bh_enable_ip+0x93/0x110 ? lock_is_held_type+0xe7/0x140 ndisc_send_skb+0x4be/0x960 ? __pfx_ndisc_send_skb+0x10/0x10 ? mark_held_locks+0x65/0x90 ? find_held_lock+0x83/0xa0 ndisc_send_ns+0xb0/0x110 ? __pfx_ndisc_send_ns+0x10/0x10 addrconf_dad_work+0x631/0x8e0 ? lock_acquire+0x180/0x3f0 ? __pfx_addrconf_dad_work+0x10/0x10 ? mark_held_locks+0x24/0x90 process_one_work+0x582/0x9c0 ? __pfx_process_one_work+0x10/0x10 ? __pfx_do_raw_spin_lock+0x10/0x10 ? mark_held_locks+0x24/0x90 worker_thread+0x93/0x630 ? __kthread_parkme+0xdc/0x100 ? __pfx_worker_thread+0x10/0x10 kthread+0x1a5/0x1e0 ? __pfx_kthread+0x10/0x10 ret_from_fork+0x34/0x60 ? __pfx_kthread+0x10/0x10 ret_from_fork_asm+0x1b/0x30 RIP: 0000:0x0 Code: Unable to access opcode bytes at 0xffffffffffffffd6. In the case of resilient nexthop groups, nexthop_select_path_res() may do an out of bounds access in nh_buckets[], for example: hash = -912054133 num_nh_buckets = 2 bucket_index = 65535 which leads to the following panic: BUG: unable to handle page fault for address: ffffc900025910c8 PGD 100000067 P4D 100000067 PUD 10026b067 PMD 0 Oops: 0002 [#1] PREEMPT SMP KASAN NOPTI CPU: 4 PID: 856 Comm: kworker/4:3 Not tainted 6.5.0-rc2+ #34 Hardware name: QEMU Standard PC (i440FX + PIIX, 1996), BIOS 1.16.2-debian-1.16.2-1 04/01/2014 Workqueue: ipv6_addrconf addrconf_dad_work RIP: 0010:nexthop_select_path+0x197/0xbf0 Code: c1 e4 05 be 08 00 00 00 4c 8b 35 a4 14 7e 01 4e 8d 6c 25 00 4a 8d 7c 25 08 48 01 dd e8 c2 25 15 ff 49 8d 7d 08 e8 39 13 15 ff <4d> 89 75 08 48 89 ef e8 7d 12 15 ff 48 8b 5d 00 e8 14 55 2f 00 85 RSP: 0018:ffff88810c36f260 EFLAGS: 00010246 RAX: 0000000000000000 RBX: 00000000002000c0 RCX: ffffffffaf02dd77 RDX: dffffc0000000000 RSI: 0000000000000008 RDI: ffffc900025910c8 RBP: ffffc900025910c0 R08: 0000000000000001 R09: fffff520004b2219 R10: ffffc900025910cf R11: 31392d2068736168 R12: 00000000002000c0 R13: ffffc900025910c0 R14: 00000000fffef608 R15: ffff88811840e900 FS: 0000000000000000(0000) GS:ffff8881f7000000(0000) knlGS:0000000000000000 CS: 0010 DS: 0000 ES: 0000 CR0: 0000000080050033 CR2: ffffc900025910c8 CR3: 0000000129d00000 CR4: 0000000000750ee0 PKRU: 55555554 Call Trace: <TASK> ? __die+0x23/0x70 ? page_fault_oops+0x1ee/0x5c0 ? __pfx_is_prefetch.constprop.0+0x10/0x10 ? __pfx_page_fault_oops+0x10/0x10 ? search_bpf_extables+0xfe/0x1c0 ? fixup_exception+0x3b/0x470 ? exc_page_fault+0xf6/0x110 ? asm_exc_page_fault+0x26/0x30 ? nexthop_select_path+0x197/0xbf0 ? nexthop_select_path+0x197/0xbf0 ? lock_is_held_type+0xe7/0x140 vxlan_xmit+0x5b2/0x2340 ? __lock_acquire+0x92b/0x3370 ? __pfx_vxlan_xmit+0x10/0x10 ? __pfx___lock_acquire+0x10/0x10 ? __pfx_register_lock_class+0x10/0x10 ? skb_network_protocol+0xce/0x2d0 ? dev_hard_start_xmit+0xca/0x350 ? __pfx_vxlan_xmit+0x10/0x10 dev_hard_start_xmit+0xca/0x350 __dev_queue_xmit+0x513/0x1e20 ? __pfx___dev_queue_xmit+0x10/0x10 ? __pfx_lock_release+0x10/0x10 ? mark_held_locks+0x44/0x90 ? skb_push+0x4c/0x80 ? eth_header+0x81/0xe0 ? __pfx_eth_header+0x10/0x10 ? neigh_resolve_output+0x215/0x310 ? ip6_finish_output2+0x2ba/0xc90 ip6_finish_output2+0x2ba/0xc90 ? lock_release+0x236/0x3e0 ? ip6_mtu+0xbb/0x240 ? __pfx_ip6_finish_output2+0x10/0x10 ? find_held_lock+0x83/0xa0 ? lock_is_held_type+0xe7/0x140 ip6_finish_output+0x1ee/0x780 ip6_output+0x138/0x460 ? __pfx_ip6_output+0x10/0x10 ? __pfx___lock_acquire+0x10/0x10 ? __pfx_ip6_finish_output+0x10/0x10 NF_HOOK.constprop.0+0xc0/0x420 ? __pfx_NF_HOOK.constprop.0+0x10/0x10 ? ndisc_send_skb+0x2c0/0x960 ? __pfx_lock_release+0x10/0x10 ? __local_bh_enable_ip+0x93/0x110 ? lock_is_held_type+0xe7/0x140 ndisc_send_skb+0x4be/0x960 ? __pfx_ndisc_send_skb+0x10/0x10 ? mark_held_locks+0x65/0x90 ? find_held_lock+0x83/0xa0 ndisc_send_ns+0xb0/0x110 ? __pfx_ndisc_send_ns+0x10/0x10 addrconf_dad_work+0x631/0x8e0 ? lock_acquire+0x180/0x3f0 ? __pfx_addrconf_dad_work+0x10/0x10 ? mark_held_locks+0x24/0x90 process_one_work+0x582/0x9c0 ? __pfx_process_one_work+0x10/0x10 ? __pfx_do_raw_spin_lock+0x10/0x10 ? mark_held_locks+0x24/0x90 worker_thread+0x93/0x630 ? __kthread_parkme+0xdc/0x100 ? __pfx_worker_thread+0x10/0x10 kthread+0x1a5/0x1e0 ? __pfx_kthread+0x10/0x10 ret_from_fork+0x34/0x60 ? __pfx_kthread+0x10/0x10 ret_from_fork_asm+0x1b/0x30 RIP: 0000:0x0 Code: Unable to access opcode bytes at 0xffffffffffffffd6. [ Upstream commit be97d0d ] commit 31da94c ("riscv: add VMAP_STACK overflow detection") added support for CONFIG_VMAP_STACK. If overflow is detected, CPU switches to `shadow_stack` temporarily before switching finally to per-cpu `overflow_stack`. If two CPUs/harts are racing and end up in over flowing kernel stack, one or both will end up corrupting each other state because `shadow_stack` is not per-cpu. This patch optimizes per-cpu overflow stack switch by directly picking per-cpu `overflow_stack` and gets rid of `shadow_stack`. Following are the changes in this patch - Defines an asm macro to obtain per-cpu symbols in destination register. - In entry.S, when overflow is detected, per-cpu overflow stack is located using per-cpu asm macro. Computing per-cpu symbol requires a temporary register. x31 is saved away into CSR_SCRATCH (CSR_SCRATCH is anyways zero since we're in kernel). Please see Links for additional relevant disccussion and alternative solution. [ Upstream commit 86a41ea ] When l2tp tunnels use a socket provided by userspace, we can hit lockdep splats like the below when data is transmitted through another (unrelated) userspace socket which then gets routed over l2tp. This issue was previously discussed here: https://lore.kernel.org/netdev/87sfialu2n.fsf@cloudflare.com/ The solution is to have lockdep treat socket locks of l2tp tunnel sockets separately than those of standard INET sockets. To do so, use a different lockdep subclass where lock nesting is possible. ============================================ WARNING: possible recursive locking detected 6.10.0+ #34 Not tainted -------------------------------------------- iperf3/771 is trying to acquire lock: ffff8881027601d8 (slock-AF_INET/1){+.-.}-{2:2}, at: l2tp_xmit_skb+0x243/0x9d0 but task is already holding lock: ffff888102650d98 (slock-AF_INET/1){+.-.}-{2:2}, at: tcp_v4_rcv+0x1848/0x1e10 other info that might help us debug this: Possible unsafe locking scenario: CPU0 ---- lock(slock-AF_INET/1); lock(slock-AF_INET/1); *** DEADLOCK *** May be due to missing lock nesting notation 10 locks held by iperf3/771: #0: ffff888102650258 (sk_lock-AF_INET){+.+.}-{0:0}, at: tcp_sendmsg+0x1a/0x40 #1: ffffffff822ac220 (rcu_read_lock){....}-{1:2}, at: __ip_queue_xmit+0x4b/0xbc0 #2: ffffffff822ac220 (rcu_read_lock){....}-{1:2}, at: ip_finish_output2+0x17a/0x1130 #3: ffffffff822ac220 (rcu_read_lock){....}-{1:2}, at: process_backlog+0x28b/0x9f0 #4: ffffffff822ac220 (rcu_read_lock){....}-{1:2}, at: ip_local_deliver_finish+0xf9/0x260 #5: ffff888102650d98 (slock-AF_INET/1){+.-.}-{2:2}, at: tcp_v4_rcv+0x1848/0x1e10 #6: ffffffff822ac220 (rcu_read_lock){....}-{1:2}, at: __ip_queue_xmit+0x4b/0xbc0 #7: ffffffff822ac220 (rcu_read_lock){....}-{1:2}, at: ip_finish_output2+0x17a/0x1130 #8: ffffffff822ac1e0 (rcu_read_lock_bh){....}-{1:2}, at: __dev_queue_xmit+0xcc/0x1450 #9: ffff888101f33258 (dev->qdisc_tx_busylock ?: &qdisc_tx_busylock#2){+...}-{2:2}, at: __dev_queue_xmit+0x513/0x1450 stack backtrace: CPU: 2 UID: 0 PID: 771 Comm: iperf3 Not tainted 6.10.0+ #34 Hardware name: QEMU Standard PC (i440FX + PIIX, 1996), BIOS 1.15.0-1 04/01/2014 Call Trace: <IRQ> dump_stack_lvl+0x69/0xa0 dump_stack+0xc/0x20 __lock_acquire+0x135d/0x2600 ? Additionally, %pK requires a privilege check CAP_SYSLOG enforced through the LSM, which can trigger a "sleeping function called from invalid context" warning under RT_PREEMPT kernels when the check occurs in an atomic context. This issue may also affect other LSMs. This change avoids the unnecessary privilege check and resolves the sleeping function warning without any loss of information. [ Upstream commit eedf3e3 ] ACPICA commit 1c28da2242783579d59767617121035dafba18c3 This was originally done in NetBSD: NetBSD/src@b69d1ac and is the correct alternative to the smattering of `memcpy`s I previously contributed to this repository. This also sidesteps the newly strict checks added in UBSAN: llvm/llvm-project@7926744 Before this change we see the following UBSAN stack trace in Fuchsia: #0 0x000021afcfdeca5e in The logic at ghes_new() prevents allocating too large records, by
checking if they're bigger than GHES_ESTATUS_MAX_SIZE (currently, 64KB).
Yet, the allocation is done with the actual number of pages from the
CPER bios table location, which can be smaller.
Yet, a bad firmware could send data with a different size, which might
be bigger than the allocated memory, causing an OOPS:

[ Upstream commit fa2408a24f8f0db14d9cfc613ef162dc267d7ad4 ]
The logic at ghes_new() prevents allocating too large records, by
checking if they're bigger than GHES_ESTATUS_MAX_SIZE (currently, 64KB).
Yet, the allocation is done with the actual number of pages from the
CPER bios table location, which can be smaller.
Yet, a bad firmware could send data with a different size, which might
be bigger than the allocated memory, causing an OOPS:
Unable to handle kernel paging request at virtual address fff00000f9b40000
