I'm not sure about how it works but I maintain library which doesn't give the version in the composer json,
like https://github.com/sonata-project/SonataAdminBundle/blob/4.x/composer.json

This way I only publish a new tag/version and composer does the job by himself.

Might be a good way to avoid to forget the bump.

@VincentLanglet thanks for the heads up here, I'll take a look for the short term. In the medium term though, we're planning to standardise to using release-please across all of our SDKs which should give us this functionality.
