Why this is needed

Most Linux tools can be used that way to allow command chaining. Seems easy to implement and useful.

👍 We have to do a better job on this and some other commands, we will look into this, but as a workaround, you can use step crypto hash digest --alg=sha512 <(echo -n secret)
