Could you remove the standard LaTeX packages in this PR? Users should install these packages by themselves. It is not a good idea for an R package to provide so many LaTeX packages.
It will be even nicer if you could rebase your branch against the current master branch and resolve the conflicts. Thanks!

pnas_article, tables are broken because pandoc useslongtable, which can't use 2-column formats currently.skeleton.Rmdfile knits cleanly. Happy to fix if there is something obviously wrong.
