Example project gives an error

I am getting below error while running the example

srh:example sham.rh$ react-native run-android
JS server already running.
Building and installing the app on the device (cd android && ./gradlew installDebug)...

Hi, i've been away from this project for a while, did you ever get this to run? i would need a bit more information about your environment.
what Java version did you have installed?
i'm guessing your using a mac?
did you build the example project?
what are you using as in vs code? android studio?
