[bug] Config backend remains unchanged when updating via PUT request

Steps to reproduce:

* Make a put request by changing backend on `http://127.0.0.1:8000/api/v1/controller/device/<uuid>/`.
* The response will contain the changed config backend.
* But, on refreshing the page or visiting the device admin page, the config backend is still unchanged.
