Can't access Nuxt Studio

I created a fresh Docus site using the template. Made minimal changes and added some content. Then I added Nuxt Studio:

npx nuxt module add nuxt-studio
pnpm install
pnpm run dev --port 3030 --https --https.domains my-server.local --public

The page loads and looks normal, but there is no "Edit this page" button and the "/_studio" is a 404.. The package.json has:

    "dev": "nuxt dev --extends docus",
    "build": "nuxt build --extends docus",
    "generate": "nuxt generate --extends docus",
    "preview": "nuxt preview --extends docus",
    "postinstall": "nuxt prepare --extends docus",

And nuxt.config.ts has:

 modules: ['nuxt-studio']

No errors in the dev server console. Is there anything I'm missing? Does the --extends docus not work with Nuxt Studio?

From the Nuxt Studio setup docs:

Previous section is enough to be able to edit your content. Just click on the floating button on the bottom left of your page.

Do you have nuxt-studio in your package.json ? And what is the output of pnpm why nuxt-studio ?
If it is not there, try to install the package.

@hareland Yes, it was already a dependency and not a devDependency.
Now when navigating to /_studio I see "No authentication provider found" - not sure why I didn't see that before.. My apologies.

Looks like I need an authentication provider configured - I thought you could use it on localhost without one? Or is it because I'm using --https --https.domains my-server.local --public flags? I also tried with only --port 3030 --public flags and --port 3030 --host and still get "No authentication provider found.".

Ok, I added GitLab auth and repo provider. Authenticating with /_studio seems to work, it successfully redirects back to the Nuxt page. But, I still can't find any "Edit" buttons? Here is the browser console, it does mention studio, but no useful errors. Also no errors in the dev server logs.

I finally got the button to appear with dev: false
