Unleashed Recompiled Not Showing Up on Linux

Hedge Mod Manager builds from Flathub and what is served from KDE Discover on the Steam Deck do not have the required permissions to see Unleashed Recompiled. If you are not seeing Unleashed Recompiled or your Steam games, try running the command below then restarting Hedge Mod Manager.

The following command will grant Hedge Mod Manager access to some flatpak paths for Unleashed Recompiled, Steam and Heroic.

flatpak override --user --filesystem=~/.var/app/io.github.hedge_dev.unleashedrecomp:ro --filesystem=~/.var/app/com.valvesoftware.Steam/.steam/steam/steamapps --filesystem=~/.var/app/com.heroicgameslauncher.hgl/config/heroic/GamesConfig:ro --filesystem=~/.var/app/com.heroicgameslauncher.hgl/config/heroic/legendaryConfig/legendary:ro io.github.hedge_dev.hedgemodmanager

Important

While builds from GitHub have all the required permissions by default, it is possible to update from a GitHub build to a Flathub build, which will remove the default permissions requiring the user to manually add them.

I've built it from source and having the same issue. It's not just a permission thing. The Unleashed Recompiled binary is expected to be in a specific path. There has to be a way to add custom paths.

.desktop file paths are hard-coded. Also, expecting UnleashedRecomp.desktop to be present in those paths.

I'm not sure if im doing this right, I opened the terminal and used the command and it hasn't solved my issue, although for me it was a bit different, I was getting a supposed unleashed recompiled installation that didnt exist as my only game, now it says I dont have any game

Are you even on beta4 and did you restart HMM after running the command?

Sorry I took a while to respond, yeah I'm on beta 4 and just in case I tried running the command with hedgeModManager open and restarted after running the command on the terminal, however it still says I don't have any games, I feel like I must be doing something wrong though because when I run the command in the terminal it doesn't say anything

After installing Unleashed recompiled on the system and it working properly, then trying to run the command and it not doing anything for the rest of the Sonic games, I restarted the system and suddenly it works for all the games I installed, no idea why

I'm on Garuda Linux, and the new HMM didn't initially detect Unleashed either.
However, I managed to fix that. Here's what happened and what I did.

When installing Unleashed Recomp, there was not .desktop entry created in the location that HMM was looking.
HMM has a hardcoded path and file name ~/.local/share/applications/UnleashedRecomp.desktop:ro.
Using Flatseal, I changed that to simply ~/.local/share/applications

I also needed to get a reference in there, which I did by simply creating a Link from the application launcher and renaming it to something more sensible.

Get these two things aligned and it should work.

I think the issue is more on the side of how the Flatpak version of Unleashed Recomp installs.
If it doesn't create an entry in ~/.local/share/applications, then I'm not sure how HMM could find it.

Not sure what you're trying to communicate with this detail.
Perhaps I said something that isn't technically accurate but I had the same issue and I fixed it for myself.

HMM wasn't able to find the game on my system, similar to what you see in your report.
Even after a system restart, HMM would not pick it up.
Once I made these changes I described, the game was detected and I was able to start installing mods normally.

I created the .desktop file with the "Link Here" option, dragging the icon from the application launcher into the /applications folder.

You're welcome to try the same process on your system and see if it resolves it for you.

I provided details on how I resolved the problem on my system.
The hope is that this helps others resolve it individually and lend some insights for the maintainers to have HMM and Unleashed Recomp to have this work a little more seamlessly for situations like this.
