doctor: surface Claude Code transcript retention#757
Merged
Conversation
Claude Code deletes session transcripts after cleanupPeriodDays (default 30) at startup. Daily totals survive in the daily cache, but per-session detail older than the cutoff is unrecoverable, and most users learn this only after losing months of history. Doctor now reports the effective retention and, below one year, warns with the exact settings.json edit that preserves transcripts.

Claude Code deletes session transcripts after cleanupPeriodDays (default 30) at startup. Daily totals survive in CodeBurn's durable daily cache, but per-session detail older than the cutoff is unrecoverable, and users typically learn this only after losing months of history (the report behind the carry-forward work in #755).
Doctor now reports the effective retention: an explicit cleanupPeriodDays is shown as configured; an absent one is shown as the 30-day default with a warning and the exact settings.json edit that preserves transcripts. Long retention (a year or more) renders as a dim confirmation line. Included in the JSON output as claudeRetention.
Covered by three tests (configured, default-warning with settings path, absent-claude/absent-settings) and driven against the real CLI.
