It was before we had scriptable options, etc. I've done a bit of digging and existed in the v2 branch before #1219 was created that factored out the controller logic into their own classes. |

This feature adds unnecessary complication and doesn't really let you do anything that you can't do via scriptable options. I doubt many people are using it since it's undocumented
