The suggested workflow for grid generation is to first get a low resolution grid using mostly default parameters (which are set to make grid generation reasonably fast). For troubleshooting see the 'tips' sections below. Once you are satisfied, increase the resolution (possibly in stages) to the desired level. The GUI is a very useful tool for these first stages. Finally for 'production' grids, it is desirable to make the grid generation as reproducible as possible, so use the input saved from the GUI to produce the grid in a single operation using the hypnotoad_geqdsk command, and see the advice on production settings
