apt does not maintain list of installed applications

apt is installing the applications without any errors. It is able to perform all of its actions excepting apt remove <pkg-name>

It is not maintaining any list on the system of the applications installed. This bug has to be resolved before the next release.

To test the functionality of apt remove, first install the test application from the repository. Execute the following steps:

apt update
apt install example-helloworld
apt remove example-helloworld

This bug has been fixed and the changes have been uploaded to dpkg branch.
