My favorite tracks disappeared

Summary

My favorite tracks disappeared after downloading update 3.0.1
Ofc I'm listening songs through albums and I lose 3 tracks , but its not cool :(

If you're coming from v3.0.0, there's nothing from our changes in v3.0.1 that should cause this. We did change how values get split to fix a bug where where we split an string with an album artist that appears twice (ie: Artist 1, Artist 1), but that shouldn't be the case here.

The only other reason that this might happen is if you moved the file to somewhere else, causing its path to change, which in that situation, it's treated as a new file, resulting in the old track entry (with its favorite status) to be removed and replaced by a new entry.

I didn't move the files , and files didn't move somewhere, they stayed in the same place
I think this is due to the fact that I've been changing track names and pics through your app

Doing both of those thing shouldn't cause the issue.

I don't know if you would remember, but did you did you see a progress bar on the loading screen when you launched the app for the first time after switching to v3.0.1? If you did, then I guess it means that maybe those favorited tracks got resaved with maybe a new id (which would delete the old entry) for whatever reason.

I guess another question is if you remember what tracks you favorited, do they still show up in the app?

2. Yes, I gave an example in the screenshot. Before updating app, I named this track in your app as "true love waits" by removing all unnecessary characters from the track name. And perhaps the program was looking for this new preset name in the device files and never found it itself

All of this kind of points to the track getting resaved as the manual changes you made aren't there anymore. My current theory is that at some point, the id associated with the file got changed, which would cause a new entry to be created (which would reset the saved metadata & any playlist relations) since everything is keyed by the file id.

Looking at it now, using the file id probably wasn't the best idea - using the file URI would most likely be better & stable. The only downside is that if it gets moved, a new entry gets created and will remove it from all playlists it was a part of. Switching over at this point would be a hassle since everyone would probably need to resave all the tracks and lose their playlists in the process.

At this point, it's probably best to see if this is a one off based on whether this happens again in the next update.
