Feature Request: audio/beep feedback on log activity

Sometimes I step away from my computer but still want to know when a "slow" log file changes. An audio/beep feedback on any log activity would be great.

GUI concept (open to ideas):

• beep/audio feedback on log activity
• • [filename of beep.wav] Choose file [...]
• • when to beep?
• • • [ radio-button ] beeps stays on
• • • [ radio-button ] one-time beep (first activity turns beep back off)
• • • silence beeps after [ x ] lines
• • • • and resume beeps after [ x ] seconds of inactivity

I'm not sure if this should be a global setting (or per-file setting) or contained within "highlighting and action triggers". If it was the former, I wouldn't need to edited all my action triggers for each highlight. I guess this could also be a plugin. Not sure the best way to implement. Anyone have any ideas or something else that does this to get some inspiration from?

I think this should be a "highlighting and action trigger" feature, since you may only want to have a beep if certain conditions are met.

Hence the reason for customization to maybe do things like beep back off logic. It's definitely not for everyone. But this could probably be done with the ProcessLauncher plugin or I could try to write my own plugin.

I don't think it's necessary to write a plugin for that, probably easier to just extend the highlight functionality. But it needs to be evaluated!
