Bug: External Tools not working correctly

When an "external tool" is built it won't work unless there is a tab i LogExpert.

Steps to reproduce:
Close all open tabs in LogExpert
Create an external tool to e.g. open notepad
try to run it - it won't run
now open some random textfile into LogExpert
try to run the external tool again - this time it will run

why would you try to run an external tool without an logfile?

The idea behind a external tool, is that, you need it for whatever you do in the open logfile, so naturally it does not make any sense to open an external tool without logfile.

Yes you can open notepad++ etc. with that feature, but that is not the primary use case :).

Maybe you could elaborate, why you like to open external tools without a logfile.

I see.
The current use-case is to start a bat-file with a log-stream (through ssh and pipe to a file which should be opened with LogExpert).
The bat-file can surely be started from a desktop shortcut but I just thought it would be neat to start it from within LogExpert.
And also to use the "pipe to tab"-feature but this does not seem to work that way. The command is of a "tail -f"-kind so it means that the piping to tab will occur after the tailing stopped. Which was not what I needed, what a bummer.

If the file is opened in logexpert it will start showing the loglines as soon as data is written into the file :)

@Hirogen can you explain what exactly is the bug and how to reproduce it(I mean this line from the steps specifically: try to run it - it won't run)? Why this is not a feature request?
