SP doesn't play any video in Win 11

Worked fine in Win 10, no way to go back to that.  In any case I have installed every known codec pack that has existed over the past 10 years.  SP is still blank when using "local" player.  It will track if I go through the process of using MPC as the external player, but that starts turning into more steps than should be necessary since it worked with "local" just fine.
