Action Performed:

Precondition:

• Workspace has a direct feed with at least one card.

1. Launch Expensify app.
2. Go to workspace settings > Company card.
3. Tap Assign on any unassigned card.
4. Enter email which is not workspace member.
5. Select the user > Next.
6. Tap Invite.
7. On confirm page, swipe back on iOS, or use device back button on Android.
   → App returns to invite page with no member.
8. Tap Invite.
   → Confirm page does not show cardholder.
9. Close the issue card flow and go to workspace settings > Members.
   → RBR shows on Members row.

Expected Result:

In Step 7, after inviting user to workspace and swiping back, app should return to cardholder step.

Actual Result:

In Step 7, after inviting user to workspace and swiping back, app returns to invite page with no member.
In Step 8, when inviting "blank" user, Confirm page does not show cardholder.
In Step 9, RBR shows on Members row because "blank" user is invited.

When assigning a company card to a non-workspace member, after tapping Invite and swiping back from the confirmation page on iOS, the invite page shows no member selected.

What is the root cause of that problem?

In src/pages/workspace/companyCards/assignCard/InviteNewMemberStep.tsx, goToNextStep() (line 56) clears invitingMemberEmail to empty string while copying it to email:

When iOS swipe gesture pops back to InviteNewMemberStep, invitingMemberEmail is empty so no member is displayed.

What changes do you think we should make in order to solve the problem?

Two changes in InviteNewMemberStep.tsx:

1. Preserve invitingMemberEmail in goToNextStep():

invitingMemberEmail: assignCard?.cardToAssign?.invitingMemberEmail,

2. Update useEffect to go BACK to ASSIGNEE if returning from confirmation:

What is the root cause of that problem?

The ConfirmationStep's handleBackButtonPress always navigates back to the ASSIGNEE step when the back button or swipe-back gesture is used. However, when the user flow includes inviting a new member (Assignee > Invite > Confirmation), swiping back from Confirmation incorrectly goes to Assignee instead of Invite.

When goToNextStep is called in InviteNewMemberStep after inviting, it moves the email from invitingMemberEmail to email and clears invitingMemberEmail. Then when swiping back to Assignee, the assignee isn't displayed properly because:

1. The invitingMemberEmail field is already cleared
2. The user not yet in policy.employeeList
3. Assignee step doesn't show the invited member when navigating back

What changes do you think we should make in order to solve the problem?

We should update the ConfirmationStep's handleBackButtonPress to check if the user came from the INVITE_NEW_MEMBER step by looking at the assignCard.currentStep or checking if there was an invitingMemberEmail. If so, we should navigate back to the INVITE_NEW_MEMBER step with the proper state restoration.

In ConfirmationStep, modify handleBackButtonPress:

What is the root cause of that problem?

The bug only occurs when swiping or pressing the back button in the browser. The reason for this behavior is that the InviteMember page remains in the navigation stack, and when the back button is pressed in the application, we redirect the user to the correct page, but this logic is not present in the browser. Therefore, different logic occurs: the user should not be taken to the InviteMember page when they have already invited a user, but should return to the first step.

What changes do you think we should make in order to solve the problem?
