As part of bringing feature parity between Classic and New Expensify, and in order to get Cohort 2 migrated, we'll need to add more export templates to New Expensify. This will be worked on here as soon as this issue gets done.

This is what needs to be done:

• Update the Download option to be a push row in both the bulk actions menu and in the "More" secondary action menu so that a user can see/select the export options before choosing the one they want to export to.

• Rename Download to Export for better name parity with Classic

• Rename the Download > Download as CSV option to Basic Export for name parity with Classic

• Add the spreadsheet icon to all export option not linked to an accounting system.

I might have this wrong so feel free to direct me here. I'm a bit confused what you mean by:

• Rename Download to Export to for name parity with Classic

I believe the option looks like this today?

What do we wanna rename PDF?

Given we have this Simplified Actions project it won't be in the details anymore, but in the More dropdown. So would it translate to this!?

I feel like I've missed something cause this feels a bit off 😅

• I prefer Export to Export to. We usually use a one word thing.
• Does PDF stand alongside Basic Export? That feels a bit off as well.
• I don't mind Download turning into Export, but I still think CSV and PDF is more clear than Basic Export.

This checks out to me based on the new Simplified actions project. Some notes:

• I also prefer a simple "Export" label
• Can we do "Basic export" instead of "Basic Export"? If we go that way... or what if we just said "Spreadsheet"?

Does it make sense to separate these? As in:

Agree it's more fitting, I also think we can update OldDot to drop the to if we really want the symmetry of that "top level" button label.

I think we need to consider everything here, so we can figure out how they all jive together. We've got...

• CSV export, with a variety of different template options that will be available (E.g "Basic export", "All data - expense level", "All data - report level", ".
• Accounting export options when connected (E.g "Export to Xero", "Manually mark as exported")
• PDF download

So I think I like something like:

• Export >
  • Export to <accountingName> <-- if applicable, put this top as the most relevant when connected.
  • Mark as manually exported to <accountingName> <-- if applicable, put this top as the most relevant when connected.
  • <customISTemplateName> <-- if applicable, put this above the default CSV template as it's likely more relevant in the case of having a custom IS template.
  • Basic export <-- default template everyone will have. In OldDot we have Basic export and Default CSV, so we could potentially use the latter name if we want.
  • All data - expense level <-- default template everyone will have
  • All data - report level <-- default template everyone will have
• Download as PDF <-- separate, distinct option in the secondary action menu for PDF that everyone gets.

Alternatively, we explore having three top level options in the secondary action menu to separate out accounting and CSV:

• Export to accounting
• Export to CSV
• Download as PDF

Jon's mocks look nice to me, but I am having a hard time with the language. It feels like we're making it complicated on purpose?? But I guess we're just trying to mirror olddot.

Why is it Export to CSV but Download as PDF? Both options are just downloading a file, any reason for the language to be so different? Though thinking about it a bit more, I guess I can see how exporting data and just downloading a PDF are kinda different. So maybe just ignore me... Initially I just found all these options to be rather complicated sounding.

Upon reflection I think I am going to let you all hash out the verbiage because I'm not sure I have anything helpful to add. Regarding Jon's mocks: I think those look solid! Seems like we may need to tweak based on available options, but the pattern he's using looks sound to me.

Y'all such legends ❤️ Okay, I think I understood what you meant Tom, but correct me if I'm wrong. Here's a few variants:

Option 1: Export

Option 2: Export and Download

Option 3: Export to Accounting, Export to CSV, and Download

Is that correct? Think I quite like Option 1 given it makes the More menu cleaner and each option a bit easier to understand. Don't mind Option 2 either. I feel Option 3 gets a bit hectic if we add more stuff to More menu. Overall not against any 😄

Great exploration! No strong feelings on my end... I am having a hard time articulating why but for some reason keeping Export and Download PDF separate (Option 2) feels right to me, even though I know they are very similar.

For the Xero icons, would we consider making them one-color and use colors.icons so they match our system a little bit better? I vaguely recall making that suggestion for a different project at some point...
