First installed FileMeta Feb 2023 on Win 10. Worked well, up until a couple (few?) months ago. Then I noticed the tags values I'd put on .PDF files were disappearing. Not right away: they would be readable after setting, after Explorer close/open, even after a reboot. Maybe even tomorrow. But after some time, poof. The Tags property attribute is still there, still visible in file Properties (or in a detail view if I add Tags to the display field list). Still allows me to put a value in the Tags field on a PDF file, same as before. But the value in the Tags attribute for PDF files vanishes. (Not the case for, say, .jpg files: they still work.)
Figured it was likely AV software (Norton, in my case). But I was nearing a Win11 upgrade, so deferred. Now on Win11, and I see the same behavior. Even after uninstalling the AV software, and rebooting, yadda, yadda.
So I'm stuck. What else in a late Win10 or Win11 environment would be whacking the values in Tags attribute on PDF files (but not all files)?
Don't know if this would show up in a FileMeta log, but I have none - did I miss some option to create logs on install? Have not tried uninstalling/reinstalling FileMeta, but unless it's whacking its own data, not clear how that could help. Then again, don't know what goes on with FM under the hood.
Anyone else observed this behavior? Are there other solutions for tagging PDF files?
Thx.
