What does this PR do?

This change fixes the queryDate test from failing randomly under MacOS by moving the assertion out of the transaction.

Motivation

Often failing test during dev

Checklist

  • I have run the build using mvn clean package command
  • My unit tests cover both failure and success scenarios

Summary of Changes

Hello @gramian, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!

This pull request addresses a non-deterministic test failure that was specifically occurring on macOS environments. By refactoring the queryDate test to perform its assertion outside of the database transaction, it eliminates the race condition or timing issue that caused intermittent failures, thereby significantly improving the reliability and stability of the test suite.

Highlights

  • Test Stability: The queryDate test in SQLFunctionsTest.java was experiencing random failures on macOS. This pull request resolves the issue by relocating the assertion logic outside of the database transaction block, ensuring consistent and reliable test outcomes.

Code Review

The change to move the assertion out of the transaction to fix a flaky test is logical. However, the pull request introduces resource leaks by not closing ResultSet objects. I've added two comments highlighting these issues and provided a suggestion for one of them to ensure resources are properly managed.

database.transaction(() -> {
final ResultSet result2 = database.command("sql", "update Account set created = date()");
assertThat(result2.next().<Long>getProperty("count")).isEqualTo(tot);

high

Removing this assertion makes the result2 variable from the previous line unused. More importantly, the ResultSet it holds is not closed, which causes a resource leak. The UPDATE command should be executed in a way that ensures its ResultSet is closed, for example by using a try-with-resources block, even if the result is not used.

Comment on lines +441 to +443
result = database.command("sql", "select count(*) as tot from Account where created is not null");
assertThat(result.hasNext()).isTrue();
assertThat(result.next().<Long>getProperty("tot")).isEqualTo(tot);

The ResultSet returned by database.command is not being closed, which can lead to a resource leak. It's best practice to ensure the ResultSet is always closed. One way to achieve this is to consume and close it, for example by collecting the results into a list via a stream.

Suggested change
result = database.command("sql", "select count(*) as tot from Account where created is not null");
assertThat(result.hasNext()).isTrue();
assertThat(result.next().<Long>getProperty("tot")).isEqualTo(tot);
java.util.List<com.arcadedb.query.sql.executor.Result> results = database.command("sql", "select count(*) as tot from Account where created is not null").stream().collect(java.util.stream.Collectors.toList());
assertThat(results).hasSize(1);
assertThat(results.get(0).<Long>getProperty("tot")).isEqualTo(tot);

This feature will gradually be rolled out following the release of this version. Once rolled out, this allows for the CodeQL CLI version that is used in GitHub-managed workflows, such as Default Setup, to be set to a custom value. For example, customers who run into issues with rate limits when a new CodeQL CLI version is released can set the value to `toolcache` to always use the CodeQL CLI version that is available in the runner toolcache. For Advanced Setup workflows, the value provided for `tools` in the workflow definition always takes precedence unless the value of the repository property starts with `!`. > * The new address format for the `config-file` input that was introduced in CodeQL Action 4.37.0 is now enabled by default. In addition to the format described there, the `remote=` prefix can now be used to explicitly indicate that the input refers to a remote file. All previous input formats continue to be accepted as well. [#4023](https://redirect.github.com/github/codeql-action/pull/4023)

This will allow customers to store their CodeQL configuration in a single repository that can then be referenced by Default Setup workflows in other repositories. We expect to roll this and other, related changes out to everyone in July. [#4007](https://redirect.github.com/github/codeql-action/pull/4007)

> * This version of the CodeQL Action adds support for the `tools` input for the `codeql-action/init` step to be specified using a `github-codeql-tools` [repository property](https://docs.github.com/en/organizations/managing-organization-settings/managing-custom-properties-for-repositories-in-your-organization). These versions of CodeQL were discontinued on 1 July 2026 alongside GitHub Enterprise Server 3.16, and will be unsupported by the next minor release of the CodeQL Action. All components except the repository name are optional. If omitted, `owner` defaults to the same owner as the repository the analysis is running for, `ref` to `main`, and `path` to `.github/codeql-action.yaml`. Support for this format ships in this version of the CodeQL Action, but will only be enabled over the coming weeks. [#3973](https://redirect.github.com/github/codeql-action/pull/3973)
