I thought we followed all the requested steps in order to get this approved, but maybe we missed a step.

I don't think open many duplicate can help to get merge, one issue or discussion and one PR is enough, I saw you did already 2 issue and this discussion.

About the PR I suggest to do a rebase, I don't have time to review it, but a PR with a clean commits list can save a bit of time in reviewing
Can be useful also take a look to review bot message that can help for possible fix or improvement, for example it spotted the use of a deprecated function (thing that is better to avoid if possible)
