Test instruction on Homepage/Readme fail

I wanted to try out std and the homepage says at the end of the start page:

This unfortunately doesn't work.

❯ git clone https://github.com/divnix/std.git
       ...
❯ direnv allow
       ...
       error: in pure evaluation mode, 'fetchTree' will not fetch unlocked input 'path:../../'

if I add --impure, to the nix command, the error changes to:

❯ nix build --profile /home/bali/Documents/HACKING/Repos/Nix/std/.data/local/shells/default/enter-action .#__std.actions.x86_64-linux.local.shells.default.enter --impure
       error: cannot fetch input 'path:../../' because it uses a relative path

Yeah, nix has turned out to be a moving target ever since the flakes / non-flakes divide.

It's a bit of an ungraceful task to keep up with upstream at all times, or even at reasonable intervals.

I have hit this myself, and I felt as frustrated as everyone coming by this issue.

Unfortunately, I'm unable to reproduce good references off the back of my handy but the issue is that flakes didn't have a good means to referentially lock sub-flakes within the same git repository.

Flakes and git hold a different scope, in those cases. But this is counterintuitive and might be a result of implementation details of flakes, because in very significant ways, flakes rely on the integrity of git checkouts in all other cases.

Breaking trust within the same git root boundary is a veritable upstream design flaw.

Maybe someone can reference an upstream trusted maintainer to procure good advise (other than: "you're screwed", of course)?
